Commercial Interior Light Fixture Replacement
Replace troffers, downlights, pendants and decorative fixtures in offices, retail and restaurant interiors with new owner-supplied fixtures.

Lighting is the first thing a customer, patient or tenant notices when they walk into a space, and failing fixtures are the first sign that a property is slipping. No Shorts Electric Inc replaces interior light fixtures in commercial buildings across Nassau and Suffolk County. We take down the old fixture, hang and wire the new one supplied by you or your contractor, provide the connectors and hardware the job needs, and complete the work to local town code.
What the service covers
Interior commercial replacement work runs from a single pendant over a reception desk to every troffer on a floor:
- Lay-in troffers and surface-mounted fixtures in drop ceilings and open offices
- Recessed downlights in lobbies, corridors, exam rooms and retail sales floors
- Pendants, chandeliers and decorative fixtures in restaurants, hotels and showrooms
- Strip, high-bay and low-bay fixtures in stock rooms, warehouses and garages
- Emergency and exit fixtures where the housing has failed and a like-for-like unit is going in
- Stairwell, hallway and common-area fixtures in multi-family buildings
The fixture is yours; the labor, wiring connections, mounting hardware and cleanup are ours. If the old fixture was mounted to an inadequate box or the wiring behind it has degraded, we correct that as part of the installation and let you know before any extra work begins.
When a business replaces interior fixtures
- Retrofitting fluorescent troffers or other older fixtures to LED to cut energy and lamp replacement costs
- A tenant fit-out, rebrand or refresh that changes the look of a sales floor or lobby
- Fixtures that flicker, hum, discolor or have cracked lenses and are no longer worth repairing
- A failed ballast or driver in a fixture type that is no longer stocked
- Standardizing mixed fixture types across a floor so facilities staff keep one spare on hand
- Preparing a vacant suite for showings or a new lease
How the job is done around your operations
Interior work happens where your people are, so the plan matters. Before we start we identify which lighting circuits serve which areas and keep adjacent zones lit. Work can be scheduled before opening, after close, overnight or on weekends for retail, restaurant and medical clients who cannot have a ladder in the middle of the floor during business hours. Our electricians cover floors and furniture with drop cloths, wear booties and masks, and clear debris before moving to the next area.
For larger counts, fixtures are replaced in sequence so a room is back in service before the next is opened up. We test switching, dimming and any occupancy sensors or lighting controls with the new fixtures in place, since a new LED fixture does not always behave like the one it replaced on an older control.
Code and safety notes
Commercial interiors have requirements that homes do not, including proper support for fixtures in suspended ceilings, correct wiring methods above the ceiling, and sound connections for emergency and exit lighting. We install to the local town code in force at your address and, where a project's scope requires a permit or inspection, we handle the filing and scheduling.
